What exactly is "the AI"?
The result of training: a file with billions of numbers that, given a text, calculates which token is likely to come next. GPT, Claude, Gemini and Llama are families of models.

The misunderstanding
ChatGPT is the model. ChatGPT is an application that uses models. So are Claude.ai, Copilot and Gemini: they are harnesses around a model.
What changes in practice
The same model performs differently in different applications, and within one application you may be using different models.
